CPT Marathon – No Track Tues Evening – XTRI Cancelled
Cape Town Marathon and Peace Runs:
Wow, what an exciting weekend it’s been with the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, Peace Trail and Fun Runs. Congratulations also to all the ATC’ers who did their first Marathon yesterday. It was great to see so many of our runners out there in the 10K as well as Marathon, clocking up blistering times and PBs. We look forward to this event growing in leaps and bounds!
Hout Bay XTRI Cancelled
The organisers of the Hout Bay XTRI has informed us that this event had to be cancelled at the 11th hour. Totally unforeseen traffic and sea-swim safety issues have cropped up. The Xtreme Company will refund all entry fees.
This evening, we are sending the FINAL list of pending TSA License applications, which WP Triathlon will use at Enduroman registration on Wednesday. If you are doing Enduroman and have not received your TSA License Number via email yet, please reply to this email.
SA Masters Swimming Registration:
The deadline for early bird SA Masters registration is 28 September. After this date, an additional R100 per renewal will apply.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK:
ATC Running’s junior team came second overall in the Peace 5 x 4.2 Km Relay! Congratulations to: Dawood Goeieman, Michelle Matthewis, Letichia Klink, Bruzano Britz and Eugene Poss.
In the 4.2 Km Fun Run Daniel Arendse came 3rd overall! Daniel, Bruzano Britz and Asleigh Links, managed to beat Coach Barry Goliath to the line too!
Bernard Griesel has been on the podium twice so far in the Lights By Linea Hero Challenge. Bernard was 3rd two weeks ago and got a second this past weekend.
TRAINING THIS WEEK:
MID-WEEK: We will do our Mountain Bike ride tomorrow (Tuesday) morning from Wembley Virgin Active at 05:30.
There will be NO TRACK tomorrow (Tuesday) evening due to Wednesday being a public holiday. However, there will be a group doing Track tomorrow morning at 06:00 on the same field. Feel free to join this session.
A group of ATC’ers is planning an informal SWIM/BIKE/RUN on Wednesday from the Oceana Power Boat Club. The swim will be the Heritage Day event, which you will need to enter. The Bike and Run will follow after the swim. Please let us know if you are keen to do this as the group will arrange a car guard, etc.
There will be a road bike ride from Point Virgin Active on Thursday morning at 05:30.
Thursday’s Trail Run will be along the pipe track, starting at 18:00 from Kloof Nek.
WEEKEND: We will have the following two training sessions:
The V&A Canal Swim on Saturday afternoon at 16:00. This will double up as a 1600m time trial for those who would like to track their times. Please ensure that you arrive in good time as all timed swimmers must leave at the same time. Please remember to KEEP to the left at all times and to swim in an anti-clockwise direction around the island.
The ATC Weekend Ride on Sunday morning, starting from the Point Virgin Active at 07:00. The ride will be around the Peninsula.
On Wednesday is the Heritage Day Swim at the Oceana Power Boat Club. Distance options are 800m, 1.6 Km or 4.8 Km.
Enduroman registration and race pack collection is on Wednesday. You cannot register at the event venue. Good luck to all the ATC’ers taking part in the mini Cross TRI or main Enduroman event.
The Lights by Linea Spring Hero Challenge series continues on Saturday with the 4th criterium in Green Point, near the Cape Town Stadium.
The Cape Town Festival of Running is on Sunday. This year there will only be a Half Marathon. You can enter on the day at the start in Sea Point.
The organisers of the Freshpak Fitness Festival report that they have almost reached capacity for this year's Triathlon, Duathlon and Biathlon. Due to the large numbers of online entries received for this year’s event, there will be no entries taken for these events at registration. If you still need to enter click here now: www.freshpakfitnessfestival.co.za On-line entries will close on Friday, 26 September, or when entries sell out.
Argus entries open on Friday 26 September. Gun Run Entries close on Sunday 28 September. There are no late entries for Gun Run.
