Ironman 70.3 Cascais - CTUTA AGM – Results - Race2Stanford Ultra

NEWS:

NEW Transition Bag!
It took months to develop but it’s finally here.  A Transition Bag that can hold all the stuff needed for an Ironman but can collapse to fit in a street gear bag.  After the race you can fit all your gear into it and ride away from the race safely on your bike without bags dangling from your handlebars.  The bag has an internal cell phone / key pouch, external bottle holders and a wet compartment for your wetsuit.  The wet compartment can be flipped externally to more than double the bag’s volume.

The bags are available in ATC (Black & Orange) and Embark (Black & Red) branding.  We will also take orders for Black and White ATC branded, or unbranded, bags, if there is a demand.

The launch price to ATC Members is R900.  Normal member price will be R990 and non-members will pay R1100.  Bags can be viewed at the ATC Container and can be purchased from there or on-line at Tri SPaza.

ATC Development Transport

Barry Goliath, our development officer and coach had to acquire a new vehicle as his previous car had become too unreliable.  ATC will assist with these expenses and would like to extend the invitation to anyone wishing to contribute for an opportunity to co-brand the vehicle.  It is a Silver Opel Corsa Bakkie and we will design really cool branding for it.  This vehicle will travel with the development team to all events.  If you are interested in co-branding, please reply to this email.
If you would just like to make a donation towards these expenses, please deposit into the ATC bank account.  Details below:

SWISH Sponsorship

Swish Property Group has once again extended their sponsorship of the ATC Swim Caps and Visors.  We wish to thank Swish for this valuable contribution, which provides us with much needed funds for our development team.  Apart from the usual costs to keep this program going, we have also managed to buy a small gazebo for the team this year and will contribute to the costs of Barry’s new vehicle.

WPTA / Cape Town Unicity Triathlon Association AGM ‘17

Thank you very much to everyone who attended the Cape Town Unicity Triathlon Association (CTUTA) AGM last Wednesday.  The association’s plans with membership was discussed at length and we are happy to report that the proposed constitution was accepted.

We will feed back more details once the AGM minutes have been distributed.
In the meantime, we are excited to announce that ATC will sponsor an Age Grouper’s League for the coming season.  This league will see all TSA registered athletes compete within their official ITU age group at all sanctioned Triathlon and Duathlon events, held within the Western Cape.  An individual’s best 4 results will count.  The winner will be the athlete who performed best within his or her age category.  Points will be weighted in terms of age group size and strength.  The first event in the league will be the Cape Ultra and both distances will count.
Basic rules of the league:
·        Athletes must hold a valid WPT Recreational or Full Racing License for 2017-18 at the time of the event.
·        Athletes must compete in affiliated club, academy or team colours.
·        The league will be based purely on results received from race organisers and will be reliant on these results.
·        All event rules, distances and age categories will be as per event organisers’ plans and will not be changed for purposes of the league.

On-Line Survey - Wearable Health & Fitness Devices

Ariel Rubin is currently enrolled in the Information Systems Honours programme at the University of Cape Town and is conducting a survey on wearable devices in health and fitness.  The objective of the research is to identify factors that influence consumers to adopt certain types of wearable devices for either health or fitness purposes.   This research has been approved by the Commerce Faculty Ethics in Research Committee.  Please take a few minutes to complete the survey at the link below:

The findings of this research study will be compiled into a report and presented to the University of Cape Town for academic purposes.  Participants will have the opportunity to receive a copy of the final report.  For more information, please contact Ariel at:  rbnari001@myuct.ac.za
