 Dinner at Half IM – ATC Office on Weds
 
NEWS:
Congratulations to Danie and Marion Kritzinger on the birth of their baby daughter.  Nicole was born on Friday, two weeks early, but is doing great!
 
Pre-Half Ironman Dinners
We have made a group bookings for ATC and Embark pre-Half Ironman Dinners at the Grazia Restaurant in East London for Friday 23 and Saturday 24 January.  The restaurant is located in the Upper Esplanade, Aquarium Road, Quigney.  It is next door to the Virgin Active Club so is quite central to the hotels where most of us will be staying.  Their standard à la carte menu of fine dishes will be available.  The bookings are for 18:30 for 19:00.

ATC Office Evenings
A reminder of the ATC Office Evening tomorrow (Wednesday) at the Oceana Boat Club.  There will also be a club run starting at 18:00.  The ATC Office will be open before the run from 17:00 and again afterwards from 19:00.
 
Embark Programs Start Today:
This evening, Embark’s Two Oceans Half Marathon and Beginners Triathlon courses start at various venues, including:  Atlantic Seaboard, Northern Suburbs, Southern Suburbs, Somerset West and Blouberg.  Good luck to all the athletes!
 
RESULTS:
Alisha Myers won the Post Turkey Trail 18 Km Event!  In the shorter, 12 Km run, ATC ladies filled the podium with Taschyana Hurter in 1st, Christine Edwards in 2nd and Jacqueline Vockins in 3rd.
 
David Taitz was selected to compete at the first International Ice Swimming Association World Championships in Murmansk, Russia. The event will take place on the 20th of March and will entail swimming 1 Km in zero degree water.  No wetsuits allowed.
 
Western Province Athletics awarded Vivienne Williams for her outstanding performance, hard work and dedication during the 2014 season with a complimentary 2015 Permanent Licence number.  Congratulations Viv!
 
TRAINING THIS WEEK:
SWIM:  The Canal Swim will be on Friday morning at 06:00.  Please arrive a bit earlier if you do not have your barcoded tag yet.
 
Long Street Swim Squad:
The in-door swim squad at Long Street Virgin Active stared again this week and will start at 06:00 or 07:00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. 
 
BIKE:  On Tuesday and Thursday mornings we will do a road bike ride from the Point Virgin Active at 05:30On Saturday morning we will do a 4 to 5 hour ride, starting from the Point Virgin Active at 06:00.
 
RUN:  Today, will be our 5 Km Time Trial, starting at 18:00 on the field below the Bungalow.  From next week Tuesday we will also have a morning track session, starting at 06:00.
 
Tomorrow, Wednesday, there will be a club run from the Oceana Boat Club, starting at 18:00.  The ATC Office will be open before the run from 17:00 and again afterwards from 19:00.
 
EVENTS:  Details here...
The Cape Summer Trail Series kicks off tomorrow (Wednesday) in the Tygerberg Nature Reserve.  We wish the ATC Development team good luck for the series.
 
Good luck to all the runners taking part in the Red Hill Marathon and Classic on Saturday!  The race starts earlier this year, at 05:30.  You can still enter on the day before the race.  There is an appeal from race organisers for runners to make use of the bins provided on the route for the disposal of all race waste.  Water sachets dropped on the road or in the bush are often blown into eco sensitive areas before helpers can get around to pick it up. 
 
The Dirtopia Resolution Trail Run takes place on Saturday at the Delvera Farm, offering routes ranging from 5 to 15 Kms.
 
Next Saturday the WP Masters Long Course Gala will be taking place in the Paarl South Pool.  You can download the entry form from our News Page.
 
The Hohenhort 15K takes place on Saturday from the Alphen Centre in Constantia.  Also on Saturday is the Post Turkey Trail run in Grabouw.
 
The Olympic Cycles Journey for Sight kicks off the PPA Summer Funride season on Sunday in Constantia.
 
FUTURE EVENTS:
Ride at the Wine Festival
The Momentum Grape MTB Ride is a great family event for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.  The race consists of an 18 Km Mountain Bike Ride, which will start and finish at the Stellenbosch Wine Festival venue.  The Stellenbosch Wine Festival is a three day wine and lifestyle experience, taking place from 30 January to 1 February.  The Ride takes place on Sunday 1 February from the Coetzenburg Sports Grounds and all entrants to the MTB ride will receive access to the wine festival venue.  Please see the flyer below for more details.
 
Swimathon for Multiple Sclerosis
On Sunday, 22 February, there will be a team swimathon at the Camps Bay High School in aid of Multiple Sclerosis research.  Teams of up to 10 swimmers will swim relay style for 7 hours straight.  The team can plan their own roster but a team member must be swimming laps at all times from 09:00 till 16:00.  For more Information, please visit our Events Calendar.
