Freshpak Fitness Festival, Clanwilliam

The Clanwilliam weekend turned out to be another great race and party.  It was sad to see how little water there is in the dam but on the up-side we had great weather and very little wind.  But heat!  A good day out for ATC with wins in the 3 Km Swim and Duathlon and Triathlon!

Jonathan Hartzenberg won the Duathlon and Colin Van Zyl was the 3rd Vet home.

Linda Detering was the first lady home in the Triathlon followed by Michelle Krebs (1st Sen) in second and Caylan Bromley (2nd Jun) in third to make it a clean sweep for ATC!  Alexandra Antonakis was the second senior lady home.

Rohan Meyer was third overall in the Triathlon with Tyron Ingle (6th), Travys Wilkins (10th), Steve Attwell (14th) and Miguel Netto (15th) doing enough to clinch the Club Trophy for Atlantic Triathlon Club once again!  Douglas Burger won the Veteran Category.

Dylan Wright (Junior u15) won the 3 Km Swim and Matthew Phillips was the second Junior (u/15) home.  Dave Chapman was the 3rd Vet.  Miguel Netto was 1st in the Senior category followed by Travys Wilkins in 2ndDebbie Hibbert was first in the Female Veteran category.

In the 1.5 Km Swim, Gareth Dragt was second overall, followed by Caylan Bromley in third and the first lady home.  Linda Detering was the 2nd Junior (u/19), Crispin Barrett the 3rd Senior Male and Alexandra Antonakis the 3rd Senior lady.

FAKENEWS:

STeve Attwell sold Embark to a Run / Walk for Life franchise for an undisclosed amount and is contemplating running for Presidency in the 2019 elections.  If unsuccessful, he will retire to an Egyptian Dynasty.  If successful, he will buy an Egyptian Dynasty

Ashraf Orrie has quit all racing and running and will dedicate his time to administering the Embark / Run / Walk for Life merger.  He may receive the ATC Legends Award later this year as a golden handshake.

There have been unconfirmed reports that Ben Nortier is either pregnant or has become fat and unfit.  We believe the former to be more plausible.

Jack Thonissen qualified for the 2018 Ironman 70.3 World Championships, to be held in Port Elizabeth in September next year, at Ironman 70.3 Portugal.  This was the second time jack qualified but he missed his first slot allocation due to #Fakenews commitments.

Logan Baynham and his new girlfriend was arrested for indecent exposure at the first Friday morning ATC Canal Swim of the season, held last week.  Logan will be serving out his community service sentence at the ATC Track sign in desk over the next couple of months.

Gert Wilkins has resigned from the ATC Committee to join another Club, which may not be named at this stage due to his restraint of trade restrictions.

A group of AAN7 Reporters attempted to disrupt proceedings at the #FakeNews Conference, held at Clanwilliam Dam Resort on the 30th of September, waving outrageous posters and distracting attendees from the task at hand.  However, the group was quickly convinced to join in and make constructive contributions.

OK, so the above is all #FakeNews, reported at the Freshpak Fitness Festival after-party, but the partry was real!
