ATC Assist Slots - OMTOM Entry Verification – 5 Km TT Results

NEWS:

Congratulations to all finishers of the Peninsula Marathon & Half, XTERRA SA & LITE, and Milkwood Half!  By all accounts some brilliant performances from ATC'ers.  We will collect results and report back in the next full newsletter.

ATC Assist Time-Slots Bookings

Our activities are becoming quite a burden on resources.  The Track sessions and Canal Swims alone, are like organising three mini events every week.    We would also like to be present with the gazebo at more events.  Going forward, we will therefore need a lot more assistance from members.  Members are requested to volunteer on two occasions during a year.  To streamline this, we have implemented an on-line tool, SignUp.com, to enable members to volunteer on-line for a slot(s) during the year, which will best suit them.
Task have been split into four categories, as shown below:
The Tuesday and Wednesday Track Sessions: To man the sign-in table before and after the Track session.
The weekly Canal Swims:  Friday mornings in Summer and Saturday afternoons in Winter.  To man the sign-out table, guard the bags and belongings while members are swimming and ensure that everyone signs back in.  We also need at least one SUP patrolling during the swim.
Support at Events or other organised ATC Training sessions:  This includes setting up and manning the ATC Gazebo at events such as Two Oceans, the Gun Run, Ironman, etc.  Also supported training runs and rides we have periodically leading up to major events such as Two Oceans, Comrades and Ironman.
ATC Events and other Club duties:  Help out with our AGM, Annual Awards, Sunset Team Time Trial or administrative tasks:

Signing up is easy and you do NOT have to register an account with SignUp.com.
Just click one of the links above, review the dates and time-slots listed and pick the spot(s) that best suits your schedule.
Note: SignUp.com does not share your email address with anyone.

Members who are unable to assist with two of the listed tasks can opt to pay the helpers Levy (ATC Assist, R100 per year) instead.  This levy is orderable from our on-line shop.

ATC AGM 2018

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 28 March 2018.  And not on the 21st (Human Rights Day) as previously communicated.  We will provide further details in due course.

TRAINING:  Details here...

ATC Training WhatsApp Groups:

SWIM:  The Canal Swims will be on Friday mornings at 06:00.  We will adjust the start time slightly each week as it is now still dark at 06:00.  However, no one will be allowed to start after 06:15.  All swimmers must please sign in before the swim and sign out afterwards.

BIKE:  On Thursday morning, at 05:30, we will do a road bike ride from Point Virgin Active.
On Saturday morning we will do a supported road bike ride, starting from The Paddocks Shopping Centre in Milnerton at 05:45 for 06:00.  The ride will be a to Wellington, up Bainskloof Pass and back, for 160 Km.  We will provide a support vehicle and driver.  Riders are requested to contribute R50 towards costs and fuel.  We will have a couple of these rides leading up to Ironman and riders need only contribute once.

RUN:  We will have a Track session on Tuesdays at 06:00 and on Wednesdays at 18:00.  Sessions will be on the Green Point Athletics Track unless events are taking place there, which happens frequently during this time of year as we are in peak athletics season.  In these cases, track will be at the Green Point Cricket Club (across the road).

On Sunday 18 March we will do a supported long run for those training for Two Oceans and Comrades.  We will offer two distances, to suit Two Oceans Half and Ultra runners.  Details will follow closer to the time.

FUTURE EVENTS:

Knysna Forest Half Marathon
The Knysna Forest Marathon and Half Marathon are highlights of the Knysna Oyster Festival and will take place on the 7th of July 2018.  Half Marathon Loyalty entries, for runners who did the event last year, are open from 15 till 28 February 2018.  Charity entries are also open.  Momentum Multiply Client entries will be open from 1 to 3 March.  General entries open on 4 March and will sell out quickly.

Please Note:  Entries are sold on a use it or lose it basis.  No substitutions will be available due to a growing trend of entries being purchased by non- runners to resell at a profit when entries are sold out.

Two Oceans Club Verification
If you are doing Two Oceans Ultra or of you have entered the Half as a licensed runner (club member), you must update your profile and provide your 2018 ASA License number before this Wednesday, 28 February.  If your entry does not currently show “incomplete club verification”, it means you have not updated your details with a 2018 license number.
ATC Running will verify your entry after 1 March and will not be able to give you an opportunity to correct missing details.  The following needs to be in place for us to verify:
A paid-up and active ATC Running or ATC Multisport Membership.
A valid 2018 ASA License Number.
A valid and up-to-date profile on the ASA Administration system.  (at asa.saclubs.co.za) Please check that you are registered under ATC Running.  We cannot access your profile otherwise.
A signed 2018 ASA License Form (which you can download from your profile on asa.saclubs.co.za).
A valid qualifying time (compulsory for the Ultra).
Please ensure that the above is in place before Wednesday.  Do not be alarmed by the “incomplete club verification” until 3 March 2018.

Cape Town Cycle Tour
Haven’t got an entry to the Cape Town Cycle Tour?  Why not join the OneSight riding team and support this amazing cause!  The entry fee of R3000 will include a pair of OAKLEY performance frames as well as a ONESIGHT cycling jersey.  You will be riding in a team with the likes of James Cunnama, Lance Isaacs and Vicky Van Der Merwe.  For more information, visit:  https://onesight.org/
For an entry, contact: Gabrielle.Tredoux@za.luxottica.com with your name, ID number and riding jersey size.

Enjoy the week!
