Freshpak Fit Club Champs – Free Slanghoek & Green Forest Entries – SSTTT Entries Open

Freshpak Clanwilliam Fitness Festival

The Clanwilliam weekend did not disappoint and was a most successful and fun weekend for ATC!  We will publish all the results later this month, once it is available, but for now we have to brag and report that the Atlantic Triathlon Club defended its Club Champion title with brilliant performances from our top athletes dominating in the higher order positions.  Congratulations also to all the Embark beginners who tackled their first Triathlon with enthusiasm and no amount of chop on the water, wind on the ride, mechanical failures on the bike, or sandy hills on the run, could stop them from completing the race!

Provisional results have been published on the event website.  Have a look and let the organisers know if there are any problems.

And then there was the “Anything or Anyone Famous” after party…   Thanks to everyone who supported the theme with creative gusto.
We are going to need some help with choosing the best dressed and will provide more details soon!

ATC Summer Sunset Team Time Trial

The ATC Summer Sunset Team Time Trial date is set for Wednesday 19 October 2016 and Entries are now open!  This fun relay, consisting of 4 x 3 Km laps through the Green Point Urban Park, will be hosted at the Green Point Cricket Club (GPCC)
ATC Members, we need your assistance with the event!  If you would like to help before, during or after the event, please let us know through the following link:  Click Here to Volunteer

To enter, all you need is your team name and the category you would like to compete in.  Then visit the ATC SSTTT Event Page to Enter!  You can provide team member details at registration on the day.

Iqela Slanghoek Triathlon

The next Triathlon on our calendar is the Slanghoek event!  And we look forward to seeing Richard Murray in action there too!  We have some complimentary entries, so four lucky ATC and / or Embark members can win one of the following:
One of Two Slanghoek Long Mountain Bike Triathlon Entries (Taking place on Saturday 22 October).
One of Two Slanghoek Short Road Triathlon entries (Taking place on Sunday 23 October).

To be eligible, please post a Tweet mentioning @SlanghoekTri, @RD_Murray, @ATCMultisport @EmbarkTri and the @Race_Director and post on Facebook tagging the following Pages: Iqela Events, Richard Murray, ATC Multisport and Embark Training.

The Slanghoek Long Road Triathlon will be used by CTUTA / WCTA as a “pre-qualifier” for selection on to the team to go to National Triathlon Championships.  This means that if unforeseen circumstances hamper your performance at Provincial Champs, your performance at this event could be evaluated for inclusion into the CTUTA / WCTA team.

Entries close at midnight on the 12th of October 2016 or until capacity is reached.  The Road Triathlon is expected to sell out.  In terms of TSA’s latest ruling on multi-day events, you are allowed to enter one Sprint and one Standard distance event on consecutive days.  So you can enter the Long Mountain Bike event on Saturday and the Sprint Road event on Sunday, or vice versa, but not both long events.

Embark Beginner’s Program

After a very successful weekend in Clanwilliam, Embark will start their summer beginners Triathlon program next week.  This time the target race is the ITU World Cup event, happening in February in Cape Town.  There is an orientation evening at the Green Point Cricket Club on Tuesday, 11 October, at 18:00.  So if you’ve been thinking about doing a Triathlon, come along and find out what it’s all about.

TRAINING:  Details here...

SWIM:  The Canal Swim will be on Friday morning at 06:00.  Please note that unreserved parking is very limited around the swim start.  We’ve had some leeway on Saturday afternoons since most businesses in the area were not open but on Friday mornings people will be arriving for work while we are still there.  Parking in reserved bays or NO parking zones will NOT be permitted.  If you do not get a parking in that area or near the Engen Garage, please make use of the parking garage opposite the Aquarium.

BIKE:  On Saturday morning we will ride from the Point Virgin Active at 06:00.  We will ride to Simon’s Town and back, approximately 100 Kms.

Note that there will be NO Bicycles allowed on Chapman’s Peak on Sunday, 9 October, as it is the Chappies Challenge Half Marathon.

RUN:  Track will be on Tuesday morning at 06:00 and Wednesday evening at 18:00. Please note that from now on, all ATC Members must enter GPAS through the turnstile gates.  You will need to show your ATC Tag to the security guard and then still scan in at the main entrance as normal.  This is in order for security to keep track of the number of athletes present in the stadium.  When you leave, scan out as per normal and exit through the turnstile gates.
