CTUTA Tri Champs – WCWWW – OMTOM Social - New Balance Lucky Draw

NEWS:

Pre-OMTOM social and New Balance Product Testing
New Balance will be present at the club on Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening next week to make available some of their latest products for you to try out.  You will be able to do the session in a pair of 2018 model Fresh Foam Zante or Revlite 890s.  Both shoes are ideal for speed, Triathlons or as marathon trainers.  After track on Wednesday evening, we will gather in the GPCC bar for a drink and a lucky draw.  Up for grabs will be some bottles of wine and members who test the New Balance product stand a chance to win a pair of shoes.

SWIM:  The Canal Swims will be on Friday mornings at 06:15.  Please note the new start time and do not enter the water unless the person on the SUP has given the go ahead.  Nobody is allowed to start after 6:20.  We will swim on Friday the 23rd (at 06:15), the 30th (at 07:00) and on the 6th of April (at 06:15).  There will be no swim on Friday the 13th.  From Saturday, 21 April, the swim will be on Saturday afternoons at 14:00.

BIKE:  Next Thursday morning, at 05:30, we will do a road bike ride from Point Virgin Active.
There will be no ride this weekend as we will be at the Westcoast Warmwater Weekend.

RUN:  We will have a Track session on Tuesdays at 06:00 and on Wednesdays at 18:00.  Next Tuesday and Wednesday (27 & 28 March) New Balance will be demonstrating new product and you will be able to do the session in a pair of recently launched New Balance shoes.  There will also be a lucky draw on the Wednesday evening for a pair of New Balance shoes.

We will not have a 5 Km TT next week as it is too close to Two Oceans, but the above sessions are sure to end on a high-speed note!  Join us for a pre-OMTOM social in the GPCC bar after track on Wednesday evening.

EVENTS:  Details here...

ABSA Cape Epic
As we speak riders have completed most of the Cape Epic and have only three stages to go before riding into Val de Vie Estate and completing one of the toughest events in the World!  Well done to the following riders and good luck for the last couple of days:  Douglas Burger, Jon-Luca Del Fante & Bryan Nicholson, James Mccallum, Damian Jones & Thomas Barlow, Piet Viljoen, Mario Santana, Bernard Griesel & Jessica Griesel, Thabo Khojane & Khulekani Ngcongo, Madele Van Heerden, & Cobus Stofberg.

CTUTA TRI Champs
This weekend is the Westcoast Warmwater Weekend (WWW) incorporating the 2018 CTUTA District Triathlon Championships!  All TSA registered athletes have been issued with age category tags, which must be worn during the race.  The tag should be attached to your race belt next to your WWW race number.  This is to enable athletes to distinguish between registered athletes competing in the CTUTA Champs and non-registered athletes competing in the WWW race only.  This will also enable athletes to identify other athletes competing in the same Age Group.  Registered athletes must also have their age category marked on their right calf at bike check-in.

The Standard Triathlon Championship:  1.5 Km Swim – 42 Km Bike - 10.5 Km Trail Run (Starts at 8:30 am).
The Sprint Triathlon Championship: For Juniors and All Age Groups.  750m Swim – 20 Km Bike – 6 Km Trail Run (Starts at 8:50 am).

Please note that CTUTA Champs Medal Presentation will not be held at the race venue.  CTUTA will publish the Championship results as soon as possible after the event, after WWW results have been published and finalised.  CTUTA Champs medal presentation will take place at the next CTUTA AGM.

Two Oceans Ultra Marathon and Half

Good luck to all the runners tackling one or more of the Two Oceans Runs this coming weekend!  The trail and fun runs take place on Friday and the Ultra and Half Marathons on Saturday.  On instruction from Disaster Management, OMTOM organisers have relocated the club gazebo area to the UCT Cricket Oval, on the middle campus, which is a 600m shuttle ride / walk from the finish line.  ATC has opted not to book a gazebo site in this area.  Instead, we will have ATC’ers roaming behind the larger public grandstand, to welcome runners with a Sterri Stumpi and a snack.
