Passing of Lee Nakan – Training this Week

NEWS:

It is with a heavy heart that we have to start this week’s update with sad news about one of our members.

Lee Nakan 13-02-1963 - 22-02-2017
After being diagnosed with Leukaemia earlier in February, Lee was undergoing treatment when he suffered a massive heart attack and passed away on Wednesday, 22 February.  Lee has been a member of ATC since 2014 and has done a number of Ironman and 70.3 events around the world.  Lee entered to do Ironman Port Elizabeth this year but had to withdraw due to his health.  Sipho Mncwabe, a colleague at Old Mutual, posted a beautiful tribute to Lee, which we shared on our Facebook Page.  Below is a short extract of the tribute:

“If life is about positive change
Then you lived yours like a champ
Imperfect and fallible being human
You stretched yourself like a true Ironman”

Our condolences to Lee’s family and friends.

If you are doing the brick, bring a lock to secure your bike during the run.  The support driver will leave after the 140 Km section so there will not be anyone watching the bikes.
