World Triathlon – Discovery Duathlon – Training Update

MULTISPORT GRAND FINALE:
So this weekend is the Cape’s “Multisport Grand Finale” for the 2015-2016 season and we are looking forward to two days of excitement in our back yard.  On Saturday, 15 of our development runners will team up with riders from ATC, Embark and Songo.Info to contest the Standard, Sprint and Super Sprint Team events.

Development Coach, Barry Goliath, will be doing his first Duathlon!  He will be joining riders from YEP Clan Cycling, who teamed up with ATC Development for this event in previous years but who are now back to try out the Duathlon as individuals!  YEP (Youth Empowerment Program) CLAN is based in Khayelitsha and their objective is to search for ways that could bring opportunities to empower young people from disadvantaged communities on the Cape Flats.

Entries for the Duathlon are still available at registration, today, from 12:00 till 19:00.  Entry fees are: Standard, R425; Sprint, R375; and Super-Sprint, R270.

On Sunday is the Discovery World Triathlon Cape Town, with age groupers racing in the morning and Elites in the afternoon.  Amongst the age groupers, a large contingent of Embark athletes will be lining up for their first Triathlon!  The Elite race is a Sprint distance so get ready for some exciting spectating.  Unfortunately Richard Murray will miss out on the race as he is recovering from a broken collar bone and wrist, after crashing out of the WTS Gold Coast race earlier this month.  Richard will be around on the weekend though, as he will be helping out with the kids events.  Richard will no doubt join us in watching the other local and international Pro Triathletes and gauging their form ahead of the Olympics taking part later this year.

We wish everyone taking part, good weather, warm water, strong legs and we look forward to seeing you at the finish on the blue track!
