IMAC Results, CTTO Results – New Balance On-Line Experience - SportAnalytik

NEWS:

Congratulations to all our members who completed Ironman last Sunday!  And a special word of thanks to Atlantic Triathlon Club TriClub members, who helped us win the Division II TriCLub competition at Ironman African Championships.  The support from our Ironfans was phenomenal and we’d like to thank:  Daniel & Jennifer Marcus, Genine Manchip, Myles Kritzinger, Lindsay Cilliers, Nabeel Pohplonker, Jonathan Edwards, Leonie Hurter, Colin Van Zyl and Deirdre & Wikus Van Niekerk for the awesome support at the ATC and Embark Gazebos and along the route.  Ironman PE is known for its supporters along the run course and the ATC & Embark gazebos are known for being the loudest amongst those.

New Balance SA has just launched their new ONLINE EXPERIENCE STORE and it is now live!  You can get a 20% discount on your first purchase before the 30th of April.  Please click here to visit the Experience Store.

ATC KIT WINNER!

Andries Krause was the first member to respond with the correct answer to the question in our last newsletter.  Dianne McEwan is the only ATC member to have won a gold medal at a Two Oceans event.  She came 9th in the Half Marathon in 2012, in a time of 01:23:13.

Congratulations Andries, you can collect your kit from us.

SportAnalytik SA Launch

On Saturday we had the newly established kids sport testing program, SportAnalytik SA, come around to test some of the ATC Development kids. During the morning of fun-based activities, the kids participated in nine entertaining sports tests to reveal their somatotype, sport dispositions and strengths in relation to coordination, speed, power, endurance and tactical skills.

The results were then uploaded into the international online software system to produce the respective Talent and Sport reports.  The software compares a child to over 300 000 children who have been tested around the world.  The individual report offers recommendations on relevant sports for a child.

We would like to thank the SportAnalytik SA team for this initiative with our development kids and look forward the seeing how our development coach, Barry Goliath, can use the results to identify further talent within the kids and improve on their already excellent abilities!

To find out more about this new kids program, visit: www.sportanalytik.co.za

ATU TRI Champs

Tyron Ingle was a guide for David Jones (MSM) at the ATU African Triathlon Championships, held in Rabat, Morocco this weekend.  The pair won the PTVI Men’s division.

John Pierre Weideman was 9th under the Juniors at the event.

IRONMAN African Champs

All our members’ results at the Ironman African Championships, held last Sunday in Port Elizabeth, appear at the bottom of this email.  Congratulations to all the finishers!  It was a tough day out with the “beasterly” wind on the return leg of the two bike laps taking its toll.

Congratulations to Martha Thom (3rd 40-44, 10:50:44) and Ettienne Ludick (3rd 18-24, 11:24:25) with their podium positions.  More detailed results can be viewed on our on-line blog.

CTCT & OMTOM

We have updated our members’ results for the Cape Town Cycle Tour (CTCT) and Two Oceans Marathon (OMTOM) with captures received from members since our last newsletter.  Members can check their results on our on-line blog.  We have also compiled combined results for the CTCT and OMTOM 56 K and 21.1 K.  These are shown further down in this email or on our on-line blog.

Charl Souma (8:41) and Jana Van Der Merwe (9:38) posted the fastest combined time for the 109 Km CTCT and 56 Km Ultra.  Dean Hopf (4:15) and Asleigh Watermeyer (4:57) posted the fastest combined time for the 109 Km CTCT and 21.1 Km Half.

A-J Spieringshoek and Sheena Japhtes recorded the biggest improvement in their CTCT finish times with AJ improving by 2:13 and Sheena by 2:09.

Weskus 10K

Riaan Wildskut was 5th and Andrew Louw 7th at the Weskus Maraton 10 Km race held on Saturday.  This was also the West Coast 10 Km Champs event.  The two will also be racing the FNB Cape Town 12 ONERUN on the 20th of May and we would like to thank ONERUN organisers for the complimentary entries received.  Then it’s on to the Western Cape Championships at the UWC Fast & Flat 10K on the 2nd of June.

We will post more results of the West Coast Marathon, Half and 10K once we receive the complete set.

SWIM:  The swim will be on Saturday, afternoons at 14:00.  Please note that we follow a different arrangement for the afternoon swims because the water taxi is in operation.  We swim up to the second bridge on the right-hand side (hugging the wall on your right shoulder), then anti-clockwise around the island (hugging the wall on your left shoulder) and back to the start on your left (hugging the wall on your left shoulder).  We all start as a group at 14:00 and no late starts will be permitted because we swim up and down on the same side and cannot have two-way traffic.

BIKE:  There will be a ride from the VA Point on Thursday morning at 06:00.   We will also do a 70-80 KM ride on Saturday morning from the Point VA at 07:00

RUN:  We will have a Track session on Tuesdays at 06:00 and on Wednesdays at 18:00.  Sessions will be on the Green Point Athletics Track unless there is an event on.  In this case, track will be at the Green Point Cricket Club (across the road).

On Sunday 6 May, we will do a supported run for athletes training for Comrades or any other events.  We will offer more than one distance, up to 50 Km.  The run will be along the Atlantic Seaboard and more details about the route will be posted in due course.

EVENTS:  Details here...

Substitutions for the Comrades Marathon close on Wednesday!  We know of a couple of entries available so let us know if you are still looking for one.

The AfricanX three-day trail stage run starts on Friday.  Good luck to all the athletes taking part!

The Walker Bay Extreme starts on Friday and offers various sporting activities throughout the long weekend.  The Triathlons are on Sunday and there is a road and off-road event.  Online entries for the weekend close on Wednesday but there will be late entries taken on the day of the event (if available).

FUTURE EVENTS

8-Hour incl Duathlon

The 8-Hour Challenge, taking place on 5 and 6 May on the Wellbedacht Estate in Wellington, is a Trail Run and Mountain Bike endurance weekend with Trail runs on the Saturday and Mountain Bike rides on the Sunday.

On Sunday, 6 May, there is also an off-road Duathlon on non-technical trail and mountain bike routes that can offer a good alternative for athletes training for SA Duathlon Championships (scheduled for 1 July).  With no confirmed Duathlon opportunities currently on the calendar for our region, this event can offer an alternative as the Solo Trail and MTB event tests endurance rather than technical ability.  The cycling routes are almost entirely Jeep track and the trail routes very simple.

Trail Route: 5.25 Km on the farm.

MTB Route: 10km (85% Jeep track; 15% non-technical single track with wide switch-backs).

Duathlon: Run 2 loops (totalling 10.5km); Bike 3 loops (totalling 30km); Run 1 loop (5.25km).

Enjoy the week!
