ATC Sunset TTT Results – SA TRI Champs – March Madness

NEWS:

Yes, it’s a bit strange for us to be sending the weekly update on a Friday evening but this is just a sign of how hectic things have been this month!  If you cast your eye on upcoming events, you will see that this is about to get busier (or better?) in March.

We’ve had some problems with our website over the last couple of days but we trust that this has now been resolved.  We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

ATC Sunset Team Time Trial
Thank you very much to everyone who helped out and made the ATC Sunset Team Time Trial a successful and very exciting event!  A good measure of the event’s success is how quickly we can get results done and we can tell you that the results, including individual lap times are done.  We are still busy capturing runners details but have published team results and individual lap times using runners’ sequence number (rather than names) in the meantime.  We will update the results with runners’ names next week.

A special word of thanks to:
STeve Attwell, Gert Wilkins, Inge Hansen, Anthony Dean, Paul Gordon-Brown and Garth Dorman for all the organising and planning before and during the event.
On the day Paul Kaye drummed up loads of excitement as only a world-class announcer can.
Anneke Viljoen and Tessie Van Schalkwyk prepared registration and ensured that things ran smoothly there.
Eckhard and Kelly Scholtz once again made sure that we didn’t even have to think about marshals on the route.
Team ATC Transition Helpers with Louis Pretorius, Peter Adolphs, Barry Goliath, Taschyana Hurter, Daniel Appel and Jako Grundling created some measure of order in the chaotic hub of the race to ensure that Esther Patience and Carlien Kotze could issue each runner with a position sleeve.
In the finish chute, Team Dash of Orange with Jessica Cloete, JD Neill, Dunya Ansems and Clive Schultz joined forces with Rogeema Kenny to manage that chute and the results board.
Kevin Anderson, Justin De Jager, Johann Bosman, Ilze Els, Elrika Calitz and Kiki Neill did a brilliant job with recording times and race numbers for the results.
Roger Hitchings, as lead biker, had to stay ahead of the runners so as to not forfeit STeve’s mountain bike.
Hilda Visagie and Kelly Kaye did a great job preparing the prizes and ensuring a smooth prize giving.

You can download the individual lap times, sorted by team finishing time, from the on-line version of this newsletter.  Visit: ATC NEWS

Simon Katz took some brilliant pictures and we have uploaded some of these to our Facebook Page.  We will add loads more over the next couple of days so be sure to check back there and tag all your friends!

RESULTS:

Congratulations to all the members who have been selected for the WP Triathlon Team to race at SA National Triathlon Championships in East London on Sunday!  The event will also triple up as the ATU Sprint Triathlon African Cup and an ITU World Paratriathlon Event.  Sofie Moens will be representing South Africa at the Paratriathlon event.
We wish the following good luck for Sunday:  Tyron Ingle, Simon Starck, Darrin Hofmeyr, Kobus Meyer, Henry Wolstenholme, Candice Morrison, Tim Langerman and Anja Wolstenholme.

Good luck also to everyone doing the SA Long Distance Championships at the Midlands Ultra on Sunday.

TRAINING:

During March there is one or more major event taking place every weekend so our club training sessions for the weekends will be planned around these events.  There are always members doing long rides and / or runs or both on the weekend so contact us if you are in need of company on your session over the weekend.

Our mid-week schedule will remain more or less the same:

SWIM:  The Canal Swim on Friday mornings at 06:00.  We may move the start time to a bit later over the next couple of weeks.

BIKE:  On Tuesday and Thursday mornings we will do a road bike ride from the Point Virgin Active at 05:30

RUN:  Track will continue as per normal on Tuesdays at 06:00 in the morning and at 18:00 in the evenings.  Both sessions take place on the field below The Bungalow.

EVENTS:

With SA Triathlon & LD Champs, WP Masters Champs, the Tour De Boland, Cape Town Cycle Tour (Argus), AfricanX, SA Masters Swimming Champs, Cape Rouleur, the Cape Epic, AJ WWW and Ironman African Champs all happening in March, it’s going to be a hectic month, to say the least.

This weekend you can get going with the final event in the CleanC Big Bay Beach Run Series, which will take place on Saturday at 9am.  On Sunday you can choose between the WP Aquatics Swim Carnival, happening at the Sea Point Swimming Pool or the Clifton 1SOM Mile Swim.

Please Note:  Atlantic Athletic Club has informed us that the Lighthouse 10 Km Nite run, set for Wednesday 4 March, has been cancelled due to the construction taking place on the Promenade.

Enjoy the Weekend!
