About ATC Newsletters
Our combined NEWS and TRAINING & EVENTS email lists are now too big to send to in a single day.  Thanks to you for signing up and welcome to all the members and users who have joined over the past month!  So, starting this month, our weekly update will only cover Training and Event details for a particular week, plus a heads up for events coming up down the line.  We will save all the Results and other News for a monthly update, to be sent to both lists.  This is the first of our Monthly Updates.

If you are receiving this newsletter for the first time, you have recently joined ATC or signed up on Tri SPaza and have been added to this list automatically.  Our Weekly Training & Events Update is only sent to users who specifically subscribe to it.  To subscribe to the weekly update, please Click Here.

If you wish to be removed from the list, please click on Unsubscribe at the bottom of this email.

Global Running Day
Wednesday 1 June 2016 is Global Running Day, a day for people around the world to celebrate the joys of running.  The key is to share your passion for the sport and inspire others to get moving.  We will celebrate the day with our monthly 5 Km Time Trial and will also offer shorter runs for those too young to run 5 Kms or those who feel they are not up to the distance (yet).  Just go online to www.globalrunningday.org and pledge the distance you and your family will be running.  We will record results for any distance, as long as you keep track of the number of laps you need to do.  We will bring our Development Team through for the run and invite all parents to bring their kids along.

After the run we will have boerewors rolls on sale at the Green Point Cricket Club and there will be a cash bar.  We will also have kiddies ATC T-Shirts available for sale.  All proceeds will go towards our Development Team.

As this is our monthly club time trial, Kelfords will be there to give away a Ford for a Month and New Balance will be present to demonstrate their shoes.  You can also try out a pair for the run and one lucky runner will walk away with a brand new pair of New Balance shoes!

Member Personal News
Jessica Cloete, who does a lot of ATC’s design work and Bernard Griesel, who has served as Treasurer on the ATC Committee, met at the Swim Squad in Long Street a couple of years back.  Both were often seen together at ATC training sessions and were selected to represent SA at the World Triathlon Champs in London in 2013.  And that’s where it all happened.  At first, they were like: “What happens in London… and in France…” But at that year’s Freshpak Fitness Festival, when they evicted ATC’s Vice-Chairman from his room at Clanwilliam Dam, so that they could spend the weekend there, we were like:  “Die koeël is deur die Kerk!”  Bernard and Jess got married on the 30th of April and we wish them all the best for their future together!

Congratulations Marius and Nicola Hoon, on the birth of their baby girl Marni (Marius & Nicola, get it?), on Tuesday the 10th of May.

Congratulations to Thalia Charalambous and Josh Slatem, who got married on Saturday 21 May.

ATC’er Hudson (James) Chevallier and his friend Brett Glen, from “rival” club PTC, will make history at this year’s Comrades when they attempt to push Chaeli Mycroft in her wheelchair down the whole of the 87 Km route.  It is the first time that a wheel chair has been given access to do the race and they are doing it to raise funds and awareness for the Chaeli Campaign, hope in motion, which supports disabled children and helps to educate children from disadvantaged communities.  Please visit http://chaelicampaign.co.za/ for more information on the program or to make a donation.  We wish James and Brett all the best for the long day ahead.
