Clanwilliam Freshpak Fitness Festival
The Clanwilliam weekend delivered on great fun and great racing in the Freshpak Fitness Festival. Atlantic Triathlon Club, once again, won the Triathlon Club Trophy, which was the cherry on top after seeing so many ATC’ers on the podium:
Congratulations to everyone who completed the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon or one of the related Peace Runs.
In the 12 Km Peace Trail Run, which took place on the Saturday, Andrew Louw was 3rd overall, Kyla Meyerson was the 3rd lady and Peter Shackleton was 3rd under the Veteran Men.
As its name suggests, Torpedo SwimRun Wild was wild, but oh so cool! The event took place over two days in the Wilderness area, with a 6 Km prologue on Friday and a 26 Km Main event on Saturday. The prologue took place within the Ebb & Flow campsite and included a mammoth climb up one of the surrounding mountains, offering amazing views of the valley and lakes.
The Cape Ultra and Sprint races were turned into Duathlons due to the much fuller, but colder, Theewaterskloof dam and low ambient temperature. The water temperature was 11.4 0C and outside temperature was below 10 0C.
The fiercest race in the friendliest city turned out to be the biggest Ironman 70.3 event ever and, in the words of many seasoned international triathletes, was also branded the best Ironman 70.3 event ever!

Triathlon South Africa (TSA) License registration for the 2018-19 Season is open and you can now register to have your license ready for events happening in September. TSA has implemented a new registration system to make it quick & easy to register.

A few months ago, I entered an Ironman event I’d never finished before. It’s called an Olympic distance and is a 1500m swim, 40 km cycle and 10 km run.
